Science and religion...the beat goes on
Recently there have been a few interesting additions to the science and religion debate. Francis Collins and Richard Dawkins have been pitted against each other on many occasions and they both have book out presenting their side of the arguments. Terrific interviews with both on NPR's Fresh Air.
Francis Collins talks about his new book The Language of God. Presents interesting arguments for how he reconciles his Evangelical faith with science. I thought the most interesting part was the discussion of his family life and how he became religious. I was taught by Francis in grad school and medical school at Univ of Michigan (Go Blue!) and proud to call him a fellow Wolverine.
Richard Dawkins talks about his book The God Delusion. I found his arguments a bit hard to strongly support after listing to the interview with Francis. Primarily based on probabilities which I guess is fair but I think Francis hits the mark better in explaining why Science and Religion could and perhaps should be separated a bit.
